Part 5 - Case Management, Diagnosis & Billing

Course Description

This class will be going over how to appropriately diagnose each patient after the first examination. We will briefly cover how the diagnosis should and will change so they will need to be updated as further evaluations are performed. As we update the codes we need to make sure to point our diagnosis to each service appropriately. Each patient is individually different for which we have designed a process of diagnosing to cover most of the differences and to enhance our understanding of the diagnosis and where we go from here. This understanding can be gleaned from a review of the healing and repair cycles. Once we have evaluated the patient; it is now time to set up a reasonable plan with proper treatment objectives. All guidelines are set from a federal standpoint and a state-to-state stand point which lends us to make sure we understand our state and federal guidelines. After knowing where to find out state and federal guidelines we can then apply that info to which services we can provide, bill and collect for.

Objectives

This class is a class for practitioners to re-familiarize them with their billing and to understand the importance of proper coding and billing not only to better ‘tell the patient’s story’ but also to make for certain they are operating within the proper coding and billing parameters. Documentation of each step in the Pettibon System is an important key that one cannot miss; therefore we will be introducing the documentation and billing procedures. Documentation provides the foundation of coding and billing. We use patient’s objective measures through our testing to understand each patient’s condition completely and comprehensively in order to properly diagnose, treat and bill. From the diagnosis we can then start formulating a plan on whether we can help this patient or not. We will introduce how practitioners can make a plan and make sure it tells the entire story of what we found, what we have done and what we want to do. Our primary goal is for each attendee to become familiar with the science and art of coding and billing!

Time to Complete

The clock starts running as soon as you register. You'll have 30 days to complete the course. If you are not able to complete the course within those 30 days, contact us at info@pettibonsystem.com to request one free course extension (30 days). There will be a $20 fee for each additional 30-day extension.

What's the process for getting CE hours?

We send a monthly report of doctors who have successfully completed the online courses to the coordinator at Palmer College and PACE (Providers of Approved Continuing Education) at the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards at the beginning of each month. The doctors' chiropractic regulatory boards are then informed by the CE providers. Not all boards accept online courses for CE hours and not all boards accept courses from Recognized PACE Providers. We have listed all the CE Re-licensure Requirements for the US and Canada so you can verify what your board accepts.  Hours in this report are calculated based on time spent to complete a course up to the amount available.

Some states and provinces require the doctor to submit the certificate of completion. It is your responsibility to know the process with your state/province. If you are responsible for submitting your hours, be sure to print out the certificate once you finish the evaluation at the end of each online course.

(Need assistance in a hurry outside of the monthly report? E-mail info@pettiboninstitute.org for assistance, there will be a $25 filing fee.)
